if you buy multiple 50 packs at Music Direct you get these at big reductions with potential free shipping as follows:
Buy 2+
$17.50 each
Buy 4+
$16.50 each
Buy 10+
$16.00 each
Buy 20+
$15.00 each
Anyone interested in a few packs and seeing if we as a group can reach 20?
-
I'm down for four packs and I got a PM saying someone else is down for four packs, so 20 is looking very do-able if a couple more people are interested.
-
I'd be in for 2
-

Great. We're half way there. Where are you located again, Geoff?

That's right. We met at the Get Go. I'm a bit addle minded. Sorry
-
If these are the 3 ply ones then I'm in for 3 (or 4 if necessary to get the deal)
a paper layer sandwiched between two sheets of high-density polythylene (HDPE) with a translucent HDPE front.

15 down, 5 to go.
-
$30 for 2 @ 50 = 100 sleeves? I'm in for two. You now have 3 to go.
-
I recruited two friends, I'll take three.
How do you want paid? Paypal F&F ok?
-
I can take two also.
Thanks for handling this, STaL.
-
This is great everyone, I'll PM all participants my Paypal info, probably on Sunday. Today and tomorrow are booked up, plus I want to let this hang out there a couple days longer in case anyone else can benefit from it and hasn't seen it yet.
-
I am in for two!
-
So, I count 26 packs of sleeves total. I have sent PMs to everyone who contacted me so far. This will close as soon as I get everyone's payment, so if you want any and haven't spoken up, consider this last call!
Thanks to everyone who is participating!

Thanks Mike. Sorry I missed you. PM sent.

Order placed. Free shipping is freight, so don't expect them any time soon.
-
Does anyone besides me find themselves needing more sleeves? I may arrange another group buy if there is interest. Let me know here.
It looks like the eliminated the 20+ offer, but we only need 10 total to get them to $16 each and free shipping.
-
I'm in for 2.
-
Okay, that's six. We just need at least four more.
-
I'll round out the last 4.
-
I'll take two....

I'm in for two.
Thanks
-
Great. I'll leave this open until next Sunday so everyone has a chance then I will PM everyone with my Paypal address.

I've been reading reports of these leaving film marks and/or fine scratches on the records. I haven't found any film marks, but I have found fine scratches. In light of that I just ordered a pack of MA Recordings inner sleeves.
-
I'll put you down for zero packs. Thanks.
-
You do that and while you're at it, you might do well to check these out.

I’ve got over 100 of these in circulation and haven’t noticed anything negative - scratches, film, demonic messages or crop circles. I recall reports of the film and scratches years ago, but I’ve never experienced it or worried about it.
-
I've seen the film, but only on sleeves which had a paper outer and a glued in plastic inner. Most believe that it is the glue that creates the film (and I do too). MOFI sleeves don't use glue, the rice paper stiffener is sealed inside by the same heat that cuts the edges of the sleeve.
-
If you have not already place the order, please remove my two.... if it's placed no problem, I'll donate them to someone here. I did not read the post clearly enough. I don't like rice paper or any other kind of paper sleeves, I like using the plastic sleeves with paper sandwiched inside for stiffness.

That's what these are. The paper sandwiched inside is rice paper. I have not placed the order yet, but I think these are in fact what you want. Here is the link...

These are the same ones that you took three packs of last year (see reply #8 in this thread). Let me know either way. We have plenty of takers, so your decision won't affect the deal for anyone else.
-
lol those will be fine, sorry for my confusion.... I'll blame it on pain and drugs. When I re-read the post I thought it was for plain rice paper sleeves. I will take two then. Again, sorry for the confusion and my misunderstanding.
-
No problem.

Hey Mark
while moving things around the listening room, I discovered an unopened pack of MoFi sleeves. So if you do not need my two pack order to get the discount, I want to cancel it. If you end up short one or two come time to order, I would be glad to help the group get the discount. I expect I'll be able to use them at some point.
thanks
Mike

No problem
-
I've been using these for about 6 months now, slowly changing over from paper to MoFi sleeves as I play a record. I have to say they work extremely well. I've noticed less static, no more cringing when taking disc in and out of dirty paper inner, and has kept my printed paper inners in better shape now that the disc isn't riding in them. A great buy no matter how you slice it
-
That closely echos my own experience. I'm cheap, I don't spend the extra money for no reason.
-
Got a Jimi Hendrix Axis: Bold as Love from Amazon for $10. It came in a Quality Record Pressing sleeve exactly like the Mofi sleeves. Wish more new records came like this. Pleasant surprise.
-
They use their own sleeves for the stuff they press. It should be a good sounding record too. How did you swing that price? Was it on sale or did you have a coupon?
-
A friend of mine has slickdeals alerts, he sent me a link for a Rob Zombie record. While I was in there I poked around for any other cheap records. Looks like they still have some and yes the sound quality is top notch. Great album if you like faders and such, sound comes from all over.

Okay, this buy is closed, but I'm sure we will do it again in the future. I will PM people with totals and my Paypal shortly. Thanks.
-
The order is placed. I also ordered a 100 pack of 10" outer sleeves which were on clearance. I won't use that many, so if you can use any of these let me know and I will include what you need with your inner sleeves.
-
So, I was Googling around comparing prices on the MOFI sleeves vs the QRP sleeves, which seem to be the same thing. However, I found a budget option that I went ahead and ordered and am very pleased with.
They are rice paper inner sleeves from a company called Check Out Store. The materials seem to be the exact same as the MOFI or the QRP. I notice that (for the most fastidious among us) the corners have a slight curl and the rice paper is slightly wrinkled. To their credit the photo on the link shows both of these issues. They didn't pick out a prime example, they gave a representative one. Perhaps they are seconds from whatever factory makes them for MOFI and QRP. They are very close to identical.
I am using so many that the savings will add up for me. In the group buys, we were trying to get ten ordered to get them down to $.32 each (as opposed to $.40 each and whatever the shipping charge is). If you buy a 300 pack from this company, you are paying only $.20 per sleeve. As the quantity goes up, the cost per gets even lower.
So, long story short, I don't look to be doing any more group buys. I will be using these until either the price goes up or the quality goes down. If anyone wants a couple to try out, message me.

Oh, and CheckOutStore takes Paypal, which is very useful for me in keeping my "hobby money" separate from my "household money".

Thanks for the info. I’ve been going through mine like crazy lately while doing needle drops. Replacing sleeves as I go.
I found the Flaming Lips Oczy Mlody won’t fit in MOFI or Disc Keeper sleeves. Seems the record is just a bit too wide. Not sure if that’s intentional or what, never had that issue with other records.
I’m wondering how the outer sleeves are from them. I’m hesitant to order outer sleeves without feeling them first. I ordered 50 from somewhere and they’re horrible, super stiff and too big on all sides. I usually just grab some at the Attic, but he doesn’t always have them.
-
The Exchange sells nice outer sleeves for a dime each. With or without flaps (I prefer without). I haven't found a better deal on line.

Forgot about that, thanks for the reminder. I don’t like the flaps, sticky tape near jackets is a no no here.

IIRC, their flaps don't have adhesive. I just don't care for the flaps at all, I don't like the way they stick out when shelving the records.

Hey Mark
And I thought you were a Ziploc kind of guy .
(Just in from a week on Okracoke and missing the island life..)

Only for large box sets that won't fit in a regular sleeve.
