I'm assembling a dj setup for my wedding this summer and I think I've landed on a speaker set up I like. It consists of a pair of EV b115 cabinets with a pair of huge mid horns and a pair of kappa ribbon tweeter to finish off the high end. I'm using a pair of knight 2 way crossovers that have two separate high frequency outputs (one to the horns and one to the ribbons). I just tried them out powered by a QSC 1400 200wpc power amp and boy was it loud :o. The amp was nowhere near clipping and the bass was just pounding my chest. I had the system cranking in the basement and walked up to the second floor and picture frames were visibly rattling against the wall. This setup won't win any sound quality awards, but it definitely won't fail you in attracting the 5-O...

The one cab is opened because I noticed a buzz from the woofer. Pulled it out and it's a damn Peavey.. well a Black widow, but still a peavey. It's reading just over 6ohms. It looks like it comes apart pretty easy (4 bolts on the magnet). Any advice on repair or should I pitch it and buy an EV like it's suposed to have? I can get a reconed replacement that will handle twice the power for around 120...

I'm thinking if the budget allows...EV. Any time I hear an exceptional sounding PA, it always turns out to be EV.

Against my better judgement I'm picking up another peavey BW from a guy in town. It's brand new and he only wants $60. The BW is a very decent speaker, and I only plan on using these speakers for one night in an outdoor setting. I'm sure it'll get the job done ;)
