Title: 12AX7A & 12AU7A recommendations

Lately I've been thinking of doing a little tube rolling.

I've got a PrimaLuna Dialog 2 integrated amp. It has 12AX7's and 12AU7's in the pre-amp section and there are KT120's in the power-amp section.

I'm hoping for recommendations from the forum folks for the 12AX7's and 12AU7's.

Hello Ron,

I have the exact same amp.  Am running "Mullard CV4003 platinum grade, paid $40 each plus shipping from Upscale Audio" in the 12AU7 locations and "Telefunken select red tips" in the 12AX7 locations.  Purchased the Telefunkens on eBay for about $57 each back in 2010.  The AX7s are smooth plates IIRC.  I tried a bunch of AX7s and always came back to these Telefunkens.

Before someone corrects me, i will correct myself.  The 6201 is a 12at7.  If it will work in your integrated, give these a listen. I had amazing results in my amp.

I have a Chinese Yaquin tube pre that takes 12ax7 and 12au7. Few years ago I found a quad of Telefunken 12ax7's, two went in the tube amp, two in the pre. After trying a few others, those won out. As for the 12au7's I bought a few cheap pairs to roll around. i settled on a pair of Sylvania 12AU7A. I tried Raytheon black plates, RCA clear tops and Westinghouse something or other. One of these days I'd like play around with a few other 12au7's.
