I am building 2 cylindrical subwoofers and need to cut out the end caps. Anybody know a good source for 1" MDF or HDF particle board?

Got my >1" MDF ....Thanks Dale!
I hope to have these built by next week end.

I hope to get some pictures posted by the weekend

Here are a few pictures.
The cylindrical cabinet is 15" in diameter and 14" tall without the feet/spikes.
I still have to install the driver, add input terminals, add feet, stuffing, spikes, etc. The Fs of the system should be ~25Hz.
Here is a link to the subwoofer I'm using http://www.sbacoustics.com/index.php?link=products_detail&nop=7&noc=43 (http://www.sbacoustics.com/index.php?link=products_detail&nop=7&noc=43)

Very nice work Ron!
Maybe you could bring it to the shop sometime for a demo.
-
Wow! very nice. :o :o

Looks very nice!! That's an interesting cone on th woofer. What are you using in juice it?
-
I am using an ICE based Class "D" amp with a Behringer DCX2496 crossover to drive them.
-
That looks great! Are you going to be using in a 2.1 application or for a surround sound/home theater set up?
-
Thanks Tiga
I am actually building two subs, one for each channel in a two channel system.

Nice.
what are you going to finish them with?

Matt
I haven't decided yet. The wood veneer is birch. Do you have any recommendations? I have used water based polyurethane in the past.

Here is an empty enclosure on top of the circular base. The finished units will have three 3" X 1.25" dowel rods holding the enclosure up from the base instead of the three 4" drivers I used to take the picture.
I still haven't decided how to finish them. My wife say "make them black".

I vote for rosewood.

Very aesthetic looking...wife approval factor should be high. ;)

They are looking really nice!

The subs are done! (sans the finishing) They sound GREAT!
I am still tweaking the Xover settings by ear. After I am done I will make some measurements and see how close I came to an ideal frequency response.
.... I love this hobby!

You've Got Skills That I Could Only Dream About,Sir.

The subs are done (except for the stain and polyurethane) and the xover is configured.
The sound.....
I could not be more happy with the sound! ..... Extended bottom end with no sense of strain. They blow the doors off of my Paradigm Servo 15!
I'll post some pictures when the finish is applied. Right now I need to do some listening...............

Incredible Ron, Just Incredible. They Look Fantastic As Is....... :o
Simply Stunning And Don't Even Get Me Started About The Skills That You
Posess. ;) :D
Sincerely, Bill
