Hi all! I just getting started in the world of vintage hi-fi and got some help from Tom who set me up with a nice spec 1 preamp. I settled on the Pioneer SPEC series because I like the look and it satisfies what I'm trying to build. It also helps that it sounds great too.
So far I've acquired a TX-8500II Tuner, spec 4 amplifier, spec 1 preamp, and a DT 400 timer. I'd like to wrap my collection up in the near future with a CT-F cassette deck, and nice CD player.
My speakers are a set of Monitor Audio MA 100 bookshelf speakers.
Nice to meet you Tom.
Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum. Your silver Pioneer gear looks super!!! I have to tell you however, you really must have a Pioneer RT-707 or the RT-909 reel to reel tape player. These were some of the best Pioneer pieces made both in quality, performance and of course looks. One of those R2Rs would look great on top of your stack. The 707 sounds super and can be found for $200 and less. Several of the hifi Forum members own them. Including me! 8)
Welcome and congrats on you fine Pioneer equipment!

Wowzers. A spec-ster.
All that silver Pioneer stuff looks awesome, and I'll bet it sounds pretty righteous too.

There are even a few CT's floating around here, if you dig deep enough!

Terrific! Thanks for the warm welcome. As far as music goes there is a lot of blues, jazz and classic rock that gets the majority of the air time. Early B.B. King, Oscar Peterson, Andre' Previn, to name a few.
schwarcw - one day......one day I'll go after an RT. It will show up out of no where and give me no choice. ha! The bug has bitten!
Thanks all!
