Do I get a finder's fee if I find it for you?

Still chasing the rainbow unicorn? Those black beauties not good enough?
-
I had an Aragon 4004 for a few weeks. If you're after that cold sound with a dark background, it might be your animal.
Good luck with your search!
-
I know a guy selling a pair of Aragon 2004's.
-
Man, I wish I saw this earlier. I just traded a Krell KAV 2250 away. I do, however have something quite new and exciting. I will send you a photo through email. It sounds frickin' incredible.
-
Put the star of david on slim as well!
It needs to be one of those two, the damping factor and other characteristics seem to suit the infinity woofer coffins in biamp duty Aragon 4004 ideally.
If you know of any av locally let me know.
Thanks,
Pepe

I remember that Aragon pre/amp combo that Tom had at the shop a few years ago. Sounded like ass. I think that's Deek's new goal, get the worse sounding system by spending the most amount of money.

2 months old. If it's still around, it could probably be had for $400... if they are willing to ship it.
-
Ok - the Orlando amp is still available, but it feels a bit dicey to send money that far away w no info on the seller. Another amp that seems to work with these speakers if the Hafler D-500. Any leads on that amp would be appreciated.

And to prove to Rev I am willing to do work I will write it and post it myself:
Why don't you search for it yourself you lazy mexican??
I hope my self awareness calms you down.

Yeah, I can be a dick.

The D-500 is an awesome amp. Loads of clean, great sounding power for a great price.

The ones I was referring to are the ASL Hurricane DT Amplifiers which have been modded. They have an incredibly sweet and tuby sound which is very different than other Antique Sound Lab amplifiers I have heard. This is probably due to having 0 global feedback. For the first time in my life I have a plethora of big amps, 3 different pairs of tube amps that each put 200+ watts out at 8 ohms... Anyone want to take a pair of these off my hands? ;) The Golden Tube SE 100 x 2 and Antique Sound Lab Hurricanes possibly for sale. PM for more information. I will probably make a new thread about that eventually.
-
Very nice. I love tubes. But...they don't always control the bass as well as SS amps do.
Based on Pepe's specific damping criteria it sound like a SS amp is in his future.
IMO ultimate woofer control is handled by class d. At least the hypex, T-amps, B+O ICE amps that I heard.
Superb grip on the woofers.
-
I have used a fair amount of different amplifiers at this point and must say, typically I agree with you. However, the Carver Black Beauties have the best bass control I have ever heard in my life. However, my Golden Tube SE 100 amps for bass are lacking. I am currently testing the hurricanes and they seem impressive but might lack some of the slam. I will post an updated review when I have listened to some music that has clean, quick, deep bass. I will say so far these probably compare favorably to the unmodded Chiro C-300. I no longer own any other SS amps.

Agreed, Rev.
Pepe, have you considered this?

The Carver Black beauties make Stephen's ML Request sing - a textbook definition of synergy. The bass is simply amazing.
As for my objective - I am not ending up with a Soundesign all-in-one, I want to go a bit further downstream to a Juliette all in one. That is the vision! I am not going Bose though.
More to the point of my post: I am looking for a solid state amp that will give quick and strong instructions to the 6 infnity woofs in the bass towers. I am close with the Chiro I am using now, but really need a tad more power (200W is my target), so looking for more amps to try. Will also try moving the amps even closer to the towers to make the speaker cable shorter.
Thanks all,
Pepe

I have experience with the Hafler 500. I once ran 4 kappa perfect subwoofers for hours with one. The subs were wired in parallel pairs, giving the amp a 2 ohm per channel load, and it did it with authority. I can't speak for the Aragon because I've never owned one, but I'm sure the 500 will do the job well. The big drawback with the 500 is if something goes wrong, and you need to replace transistors, there are no current replacements, and the originals are very expensive.
-
Pepe, have you considered a pair of these?

If you do want those I know of a pair for sale in Boston. :P
-
The only reason I bring them up is because I remember a guy on A-Gon a few years back who was running the Infinity IRS Beta setup and had excellent results with the N 33's.
-
No Levinsons in the target list.
Just received the DBX Driverack and microphone - will report on that later.

300 Class A watts = 2400 Watts at 1 ohm.
Each N 33 has TWELVE 39,000 nano Farad caps. Sweet Jesus.
-
These require a 220 volt line and 30-35 amps of current, per amp (combined, more than an electric range or whole house air). Time for a new breaker box and possibly new mains into the house!
-
IIRC, each amp weighs around 400 lbs. Not easy to carry upstairs LOL!
