Yes he was rear-ended. Could have been worse I suppose, but first time experiencing this is not fun. He sure didn't sound like he was having fun when he called me right after it happened.

The hit was more on the rear side as the guy was trying to change lanes to avoid hitting me.
I blame the stupid Squirrel Hill tunnel closures that made the traffic stop suddenly.
I had to hit the brakes pretty hard to avoid hitting the car in front of me.

I had that shit happen to me on I-85...closed 2 lanes of a 4 lane at night and made it into a parking lot! Hit some poor lady coming over the hill in a sports car at about 25 mph after locking the hubs...did $6500 in damage to my car. Argued with the cop about hitting her in the rear...he said alcohol did not help me and be best if I stepped back towards the car...took a driving too fast ticket and bamboozled the hell outta there!!!! ;)

no alcohol or cops involved here, just traffic/construction, and a guy following to close behind Anders to stop in time. I think the days of coming home via the parkway with the construction are over now. Thankfully no one was hurt. I'm not ready to lose Anders anytime soon.

A car accident can shake you up pretty good. That it's your first accident ever, is a credit to your driving. I think we all have had at least a few in our lifetimes. Glad you're ok.

Yeah Anders. That's a bad location. That bottleneck there at the tunnel can get a little ugly at times, as you found out the hard way. Lots of speeding up, slowing down, merging, exiting, and entering are going on in that 500 foot stretch. The important thing is you walked away.

I've decided not to go home that way anymore until the tunnels are done.

He knew all of that which is why he was able to avoid hitting the car in front of him when it stopped suddenly. The person behind him learned the lesson. The problem is, you can't control how other drivers handle the issue. Sooo, avoiding the mess until it's over seems to be the safest option.

I am just glad no one was hurt.
I have yet to own a car someone didn't hit-usually in the rear because they don't pay attention, are in a hurry, distracted, etc
We need tougher driving tests-maybe like what they require in some countries in Europe

Estimator was here, double the pain Pepe predicted, but the other party has assumed liability so just need to get it fixed :)

We'll have to fab you up some Mad Max bumpers for that buggy of yours. Smoke screen, oil slick and a rocket launcher too. Good for clearin those traffic jams up. >:D
