I know they will heat up the room but I bought a tube preamp over the weekend so the QUADs are back in service. Preamp is an Acoustic Research LS 17. Here is the current setup on the Bell'O rack.

For the limited time I've been able to listen, it sounds more open and life like.

What are you driving with them?

Very nice Mike... When we are "Corona free" will need to stop out to listen... :)
Enjoy!!!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Heading up now to listen for an hour or so. Really heats up the room!
From a little bit of listening, I hear a bigger soundstage and more detail in the instruments and vocals.
stay cool!!

PS Have loads of zucchini and squash to distribute. Stop by!!!

Here is a question for all y'all.
The setup has the power amps on the first two thick glass shelves. I have them sitting forward to allow more heat to escape and they still get very warm, which will be nice come winter. As for now, should I be concerned about heat from the bottom amp damaging the amp above it? I am think they might be better overall on very small tables next to the speakers.
Opinions?

Tubes or transistors, less heat is always better. My amps simply sit on the floor, with a finished wood board to keep them off the carpet and improve airflow (I have no kids or pets at home).
Or, what about a small fan, maybe one used for computers or rack mount gear.

Looks like part of this hot day will be spent sanding and staining a couple thick cutting boards to use as amp stands.
Will this never end??????
