Title: Sony TC-366 Reel to Reel - Intermittent Left Side Audio
Post by: realisticfan on November 15, 2020, 02:20:34 PM
I have a Sony TC-366 Reel to Reel player. The left audio goes out intermittently. On the TC-366, luckily there are two out meters a left and a right. When the left side audio goes out, so does the meter. So i definitely know its the TC-366. I have toggled the source switches and no difference. When the left goes out, I turn the unit off while still in play and as the tape slows i get sound again. I turn the power back on and there is the sound on the left. When it goes out again, same thing, if i turn it off while its in play, as the tape slows, i hear the sound on the left speaker. Turn it back on, both sides work. Any ideas??

I would start by cleaning the record switches. You may have a bad cap or transistors. I do have some good reel to reels to sell.
