Very nice looking system e_just!

Thanks!
The system is constantly changing. As shown, those are KLH 17s on top of Pioneer HPM-100s. I recently bought a pair of KLH 6s which are now on top of the pioneers and the 17's are now a part of the bedroom system.

NICE GEAR!!! Here is my latest porn pic. ;)
Nice!
I have never owned any carver gear. I have always associated them with pro audio because of there high powered amps. Also, I can't seem to recall ever seeing any Carver second hand on CL or the thrifts.
I scored a new receiver today at Red White and Blue. I found an early 70's Pioneer SX-525. Its solid state, 17w per channel. Not nearly Pioneers nicest piece, but kinda cool. I have to take some pics.

Talk to me about Red White and Blue..
That's the thrift place on RT-51 just south of the liberty tubes is it not?
I always see TONS of cars outside that place and I've been tempted to stop in. Tell me, is it worth my while?
Thanks,
Also, LOVE the Pioneer stuff. I have an SA-7700 that I just replaced as my main amp with a Hafler DH220. The SA-7700 had uncanny power for its modest 65watt rating, to say the very least.
Did you just get that smaller SA in the front of the photo off of craigslist lately? There was one just like that listed a month or so ago.
Nice setup!

Thats because these guys always snatch it up as soon as it gets listed!!! I swear every time I contact someone in the area about Carver gear, Tom's already been there and plundered!! I had to go as far as Columbus to get my CT-17!
To say that there's an excited Carver following in this area is a vast understatement (and for good reason!).

As with any pawn shop and thrift store, its hit or miss. Most of the times you go there you strike out, other times you come up big. I bought my Marantz 1060 there for $50 as well as my CT f7272 cassette deck. And yes, there parking situation SUCKS!
I haven't heard the pioneer amp that you have but i'll bet its nice. Pioneer made some quality and powerfull stuff in the 70's.
The SA-5200 on the floor was indeed the one from CL a few months back. Its not a powerhouse, but for $30 I couldn't pass it up. It has a clean sound and powers my KLH 17's well.

I took a pic! SX-525 (Bottom) SA-5200 (TOP)

Wow I love the look of that SX-525. The blue backlight is sexy.
It looks like the faceplates on those are both mint clean too. That's impressive.
Which of your TTs do you prefer BTW?
-
It seems as though that folks pricing the stuff at thrift stores
have no idea what they are doing when it comes to electronics.
Usually they have absolute garbage totally overpriced.
I guess thats their way of feeling out its value.
They jack up the price, and keep dropping the price over time until it moves?

I have 6 turntables and I love them all. In my living room, I have hooked up a Technics SL-1100A and a Goldring GR1 (Identical to a Rega P1) I tend to use the 1100A more because you dont have to remove its platter to switch from 33 to 45 like on the GR1. I also really like the Shure V15 IV cartridge on the 1100A. I also have a pair of Technics 1200M3D's in the bedroom that I use for djing and a Thorens TD-111 in need of a tonearm (I'm holding out for a Grace 707).

I don't think I've ever found anything at Red, White & Blue except for maybe some random vinyl. I did however see an employee one night, when they were closing up, taking what looked to be Marantz 22series to his car. Lol. I'm sure people work there or places like it just for that reason.
-
I would be willing to work at one part time just for that reason. :o

Very nice. :D
