Hello everyone,
Picked up a pair of these babies today, was pleasantly surprised with the sound. I have never seen anything just like them before, and thought I would give everybody a chance to guess what they are. 95 DB efficient, 100 W handling power using AES measurements, rated 70 to 17,000 Hz(sounds like they go lower).
8 inch two ways, horn tweeter with ferrofluid dome, that way 34 pounds each. Ported and horn loaded woofer. Late 80s vintage.
Hal and I found them in a garage sale, not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Check out the pics. No more clues.

One more pic, could not get both to load.

One more try!

Sure are odd looking speakers. Short of DIY.....
I'll guess Electro-voice.
two guesses....JBL,
Make it three guesses...Eminence.
I'm think more along the lines of PA or sound reinforcement.
-
Tannoy?
They kinda look like "you're a pee'in" speakers.

Hello folks,
Ron they are not Tannoy's. Not a bad guess though. What my Wi-Fi set up.
ataudio, good guesses you're close. The website said they were designed for sound reinforcement/PA/monitors. One post this on the web said the woofers were EV, though I have not confirmed this. USA manufactured though.
-
I would guess EV first, JBL second, & Lafeyette or Altec third. Maybe even an old pair of Jensens...
-
....perhaps even Celestion....

Bose ;D ;) ;D ;) >:D
-
Fostex?

Still no correct answers. This company started in the 50's and was in business at least until the early 90's.

Soundesign.
-
Bozak's?
-
TOA?
-
Kraco!
-
Magnavox?
-
Sparkomatic car speakers. ;D

Frazier ;)

Frazier Cat 40's had to look at the pic again

Good job tinpan!!! Have you ever heard a pair?
-
Not those but I'll bet they are pretty good. The only reason I knew this answer was I stumbled on that website last weekend when I was researching my latest acquisition

I have a couple buddies playing around with coax speakers and there are some pretty interesting observations

Cool speakers! Do you like yours? Cannot quite figure out the driver complment, or model number for yours.

I haven't had time to play with them yet. I have two projects in front of them. They are a twp way system. A Frazier 10 inch woofer which I like and I think it's an Atlas driver driving an EX horn on top.
Not lows but decent mid base. Can't wait to tweak them a little. First I have to finish with the Machine
