It is basically that time of year, what are you favorite stouts / porters etc?
I just picked up a four pack (they don't sell it in in six packs) of Founders Breakfest Stout and it is amazing - highly recommend trying

Guiness + Bass = Black & Tan. When I'd work the door at the Firehouse Lounge on those testicle shrinking evenings, I'd get full on these things upstairs afterward.
The best part: If you drink with a friend and use cans / bottles to make your B&T, you have to keep pace with one another. Come thirsty. Leave happy.

Sierra Nevada Celebration!

I just introduced myself to Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale. I'm new to Barley wine style beer, but it tastes pretty good on a cold night. It's definitely a sipping beer with a thick fruity taste. At around 10% alcohol, one beer does me just right. I have managed to put down 3 in one night, but they just aren't enjoyable like that.
I highly recommending picking up a 6er to try on a chilly night.

Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale and if you can get it from the keg only? Oktoberfest Spaten lager. Those that know beer know what I'm talkin' about and the bottled stuff just don't cut it. Don't let them fool you either. I have had plenty a bar "tell" me it's Oktoberfest Spaten Lager , only to find out after tasting it, it's not.
Once you have had it, you'll know the taste if you know your beer.

East End Snow Melt Winter Ale
-
I am also a fan of Big Foot beer. I like to buy at least 2 cases, drink one that winter and store the other for next year. Barley wines are one of the few beers that will age in the bottle and will get better with a year or two under it's belt.

That is THE BEST pumpkin beer available. My dad special orders a keg every year. Gooood stuff. Almost makes the visit worth it

My all time favorite winter beer is Anderson Valley Winter Solstice.
For barleywine, +1 on Bigfoot.
Dogfish Head Olde School, and Stone Old Guardian are very good too.
