Folks,
Tom is in need of firewood to offset heating costs but cannot afford to purchase any right now.
He is also not physically well enough to load/split/stack it.
If anyone out there can help please PM me.
Thanks
/Al

I understand Tom is back in the hospital. Please send my best wishes. Don't have any firewood though
-
I felled two small apple trees in my back yard and was looking for someone to take it. I have no way to haul it, but if someone can pick it up and take it to him he is more than welcome to it.
-
I am willing to chip in on a cord delivered or whatever?? Who wants to join with me? Send me your interest via PM or call me. I'll even through in some of Jim Pittsburgh's and Pepe's top shelf vinyl for your participation! >:D O0 :(|)

Carl-let me know what you need
-
I truly wish I could help but I'm pretty messed up be chemo. The only thing I could offer is I have a full size SUV with towing package. I can pull a trailer if a anyone has access to one. Sorry I can't be of more help

Carl, very generous of you lol
I'm in for a share of the cost. Call or PM me.... also interested in getting some meals or something catered for him and his mom... any ideas for someone in that area to contact? Also, don't know what his diet is limited too.

Great ideas folks, thanks for all the offers. I'm on board to split the purchase of a cord.
I don't want to get into details about his condition, but he is in very poor health right now. He's been in and out of the hospital and the treatment itself is very debilitating.
It might be good to arrange a meeting or conference call to brainstorm on other ways to help our dear friend.
I'll chat with a couple of you irl and see what we can pull together.

I've got a pickup truck and hitch, no trailer. I'm in single parent mode until next Friday, wife is in Baton Rouge. Timing gets tricky with having to be here and there, but if I can help with the truck, let me know.
-
I can meet at the Shop to help unload/stack, whatever and settle up. All of course depending on the date/time. If timing doesn't work, I can send someone a check.

Pepe's RCA "shaded dogs" are going fast.
I know there are more of you that can spare a few bucks. If you can Paypal me via "friends and family", send me a PM. I have already received some commitments from our Vintage community. Let's get behind the axe!!

Not the Shaded Dogs. They are irreplaceable. I seem to recall seeing some current new vinyl at your place that would be easily repurchased. Didn't we listen to some Beck?

PBJ you may have some parts that aren't working well. But your heart is bigger than that SUV.
Stay strong my friend!

Tom Huffman has offered a cord that he has at his house in cranberry.
I need a few folks to help load/unload and stack it. I'm planning for Sunday morning.
Please chime in if you can help out.
-
I can come over Sunday afternoon?

I can also help Sunday afternoon, but NOT Sunday morning...

I have a major plumbing issue and am not yet sure when I'll have time
-
Seems like Sunday afternoon is more preferable. I plan to have the truck at Huffman's house around 11 AM.
We can start loading around 12 noon. PM me if you need his address or want to exchange contact info.
I'll update this thread when we leave for the shop to unload and stack.
-
I plan to be at STaL's at noon tomorrow to load up his wood and then take it over. Guessing we'd be there sometime before 2 and can help out with whatever needs done when we get there.
-
I have to be back home by 3 or I turn into a pumpkin. We are doing Saturday and they are doing Sunday, if I am reading correctly.
-
Mark, how old is the wood you are bringing?
Hardwoods require 1-2 years to be suitable for burning.
We may need to set it aside depending on its age.
-
Doh, didn't see the different days. Don't think it'll be a problem getting you back by 3.

Carl
I will throw in $25.00 usd
Can you please send me your paypal address to:

I didn't know that. They were just cut down at the end of summer. Should we not bring it?
-
I'm sure he'll appreciate it, just may not be usable this year.
Also, please make sure they are cut and split to the appropriate size ~14" long 5-6" diameter.
-
I'll let it dry out here over the winter and get it to him when it is more useful to him and more convenient for me. No sense in rushing over to give him something he can't use.
Thanks scorpio for your willingness to help. We can do this on a weekend where you don't have the kids and I don't have an xmas party.
-
Slight change of plans.. The truck is already filled with wood and will be at the shop first. Everyone is to meet at the shop at 11AM

Operation Cordwood was completed successfully!
Thanks to Carl (schwarcw) and George (gdv) for offering a hand, as well as those who made a donation.
-
I wish I could have been there.

Thanks for organizing Al! And a big thanks to the many contributed with $ or with heart. I sat with Tom for a bit with Al and our "wood" team. I said wood O0 Tom wanted everyone to know how grateful he is to all of you for your help. Let's pray for some continued healing for Tom so he can get on his feet.
