Hiya!

Thanks, I actually just got a pair of Altec A7s rolling yesterday, I think I'll stick with 'em for a bit.

You should come over some afternoon and cj=heck 'em out.

RT - did not realize you are running a Melos Gk1 now. Is that Nick's? Haw do you like the phono section?

I am.  Nick says it was his, Ryan says 'twas his.  I really doesn't matter much to me, I think it sounds really nice, much fuller, richer -colored, I suppose- than anything I've had previously, and through the ST-25 and Cornwalls has a 'sweetness' I find very compelling; smooth and musical.  I'm looking to enjoying the combo of low watt tubes and the Melos for a while before I start looking in earnest for a really good quality SS amp and move into something different from horns.

Unfortunately, the TT cables don't quite reach from their current location to the pre; I'm working on a solution to this issue, but in all honestly, don''t listen to much vinyl.

Moving away from my NHT 2.9s.

Been looking at Jamo D830s aka concert 8s.  JM Labs 806 or Paradigm Signatures.

Sub will be either HSU or Sunfire

Just a thought, but if you have room for those large book shelves with stands, you'd have room for the KEF Q900s.... Absolute Sound B rated and dirt cheap now...  since they've been in production since 2011 or 2012....  I don't think you can find anything better at that price JMHO... And you can audition them ... while having a beer to boot lol .

@jim - I think you meant to write Stereophile Class B (full range) rated.  They do sound pretty darn good for the dough.

@Emperor - I asked if it was Nick's because I had that unit in my cave for a couple of months (i have some nudie pics of it if  interested  >:D) and it is a fina sample of the type,  IMO.

I've been quite happy with it thus far, looking forward to trying it out with an SS amp eventually, but it looks to be hanging out in my system for a good while.

Forget the Altecs... moving away from horns for the foreseeable future.
