Holy Mother~!
Did you buy a pair of Jubilees?? :o
-
Either speakers, or a single Levinson NÂș33 monoblock!
-
Come on Tinpan...fess up!!!!
-
Maybe he ordered a Bose Wave radio for every forum member! ;D ;D

Mail Order Bride? :o

Dang, rough crowd leaving it up to your imagination.
Two set of speakers on their way to me, no jubilees, Levinson Mono Blocks.
To make matters worse the Rat bastards at DB shenk, the heartless shipping company told me they wouldn't bring them out till next week.
So I hopped in my trusty Toyota pick up truck and headed to Richmond airport last night. There were two big crates and unfortunately I could only fit one crate in my truck.

Here is what was inside:

Lowther Alerion's with the DX-65 driver
See how nice they fit in?

The second box arrived from UPS and it has the drivers for my other set of speakers. These are the Lowther PM5a drivers:

I HAD to drink that beer so you could see the scale of the magnet

When I picked up my first crate the shipping company said they would probably deliver the other crate next Wed to Thurs. bastards, looks like I'll be hitting the airport again Monday.
Been saving a long time for these puppies, it's nice to see them finally start to straggle in.

Lowthers?
I heard they suck.
Kidding. I'm jealous. Those are an awesome set, especially the transmission lines!
-
That picture is classic, i love the pipes and banjo...oh yeah and the speakers aint bad neither.
-
Congrat's Tinpan
They look like a work of art, have a safe drive to Richmond airport on Monday

Finally got my Medallion cabinets in Wednesday. Course I was sicker thana dog so i couldn't do anything with them untill Thursday. Anyway here they are;

It's actually a lot taller than I thought it would be. Here is a shot with the grill cover off. Pretty basic, one driver, no cross overs and a folded horn for the bass to exit. You can see the mouth of the horn two thirds of the way down the speaker. The cats love folded horn openings. They learned the hard way to NOT go in the Lascala openings ;D .

Here's the cabinet with the grill screen on. These were used cabinets. The way Jon described them I thought I was going to have to refinish them. Heck i like them fine the way they are, very presentable. These less expensive cabinets let me upgrade to the PM5a driver.
I need to run them at regular listening levels for about 30 hours to let them break in. I am about 16 hours into that process now. Probably be tomorrow afternoon when i can inch them up a little

Oh...one more thing. I like the plywood cabinets. I hate MDF and i don't care what anyone says about the "better sound" it produces.
Another nice touch is the Cardas speaker posts and the Jenna wire that runs from the posts to the speakers. This is the first time I have seen these Cardas speaker posts and I really like them. They work really well with my speaker cables

See how nice those River Current cables look on the back of my Lowther Medallions?

I see those originated in Forest Park, IL.....about 45 mins from me.....private sale?
