Hey all,
I'm finally ready to part with my 1Cs. I've owned them for about 3 years. They're in nearly perfect condition. The only flaw is a small coffee ring on one of the caps (see photo).
They have the original SL2000 tweeters, upgraded crossovers with mills resistors and Clarity Cap capacitors.
All of the drivers are original and in great shape.
I have the original pin/blade interconnect cable and the original cardboard boxes for shipping.
Also, they're not shown in the photos but the grills are all in perfect condition.

You can read all about the crossover mod here:

I'd like to get $500 for these. They really are in VERY good condition.
Local pickup in Pittsburgh is preferred. I'm open to shipping at the buyer's cost (AND RISK!!)
I'll also consider trades for Definitive Technology BP10s or 700X supertowers.
Thanks for looking!

Very nice! I've always wanted to have a pair of those. Pity I live in the Southland. Maybe I can hear Jerry's at Carverfest tomorrow. Good luck with your sale!!!
-
Give them a listen while you're down there at CF. If you like them, maybe we can work something out. I do have the original boxes and they're pretty nicely padded if I remember correctly. It'll probably cost you a bit for the shipping though because they are about 80lbs each!!

Great looking system Matt.

No sale to chris :-(
the speakers are still for sale.

I've never been a big fan of Polks because they can sound phasey to me but at Carverfest the system with the Polks got my vote for best sounding piano.

Well, the 1C's you heard at Carverfest weren't exactly stock. Every daggum upgrade you could possibly fathom was done to that pair. I apologize for interrupting a FS thread but I felt the need to clarify a bit so that there was no misunderstanding.
-
No worries treitz.
These SDAs aren't exactly stock either. I upgraded the crossovers with some fairly high quality components.
Good to hear you guys enjoyed carverfest.
-
Still for sale.

Interested in the SDA's
one question though... How much power will be needed to drive them properly?
please call 412 245 7874
Thanx in advance,
Andrew

We have the cash and are ready to pick them up
Please respond and let me know when you can arrange an audition
If you have reservations letting others into your home, an audition at the shop will be fine with me.
Please get back to me

Greetings Andrew!
Your Crown has plenty of power for these. If you use a non Pro amp, you should have about 200 wpc. These speakers are less than 8 ohms. Many receivers won't do them justice!
-
Woo hoo!
A new happy home for some fantastic loudspeakers.
-
are they still available?
-
Sale pending to GraphicFX
Yes these are 6ohm, so a receiver, (especially an AVR) likely won't cut it. But I've put anywhere from a Dynaco ST-70 to a M1.5T into these and they all sounded great.
-
are they still available?
Just so you know, as a basic rule bridged, mono blocks or non-common ground amps cannot be used with SDA's. There are exceptions such as using the AI-1 interconnect cable or if allowed, strapping the negative outputs on a pair of mono blocks.
Also, SDA's like high current amps with finesse much better than amps built for raw power.
-
SOLD!
Thanks Andrew.

Matt,
Thank you for letting me and my "crew" into your home
You are a gracious host and have a lovely home
The SDA's made it home safe and sound.
Due to my friend's having a cold, we decided to hook them up tomorrow evening.
I'm going to loan him my Crown PS-200 amp till he gets the cash for either a carver TFMXX or maybe an adcom gfa555
Thank you again for a great sale
Pictures and commentary to follow
Sincerely,
Andrew

Thanks Andrew. It was a pleasure having you and your posse over.
As a follow on to our discussion, here's the article regarding the speaker cables that I built:

Thanx F1 for the "heads-up" regarding my nonoblocks
Sadly, I just brokered the deal for a close friend of mine
I would love to have purchased them myself.
Understand something about these crowns and why I collect them
They are crowns' attempt at the audiophile market for permanent installations. They are not intended (but often used) for DJ use
Their sound is open, warm and very neutral. I would recommend these for anyone looking to get into true seperates at a very attractive price.
Not to mention, their build quality is Industrial like and elegant in their own right
Just my 2 cents for what it's worth
