Just a note on this great pair of headphones. I added it to my wish list in Amazon and my son gave them to me as a birthday gift. Observations:
- Tight bass, decent highs.
- Excellent efficiency, I can almost drive them to respectable volumes using the sound card, sound even better with the outboard DAC and op amp
- The size, collapsed, is a big plus. I can carry the cans and my portable DAC in a small pouch
- Sound isolation is a weak spot. Will take them with me on my next trip and see how usable they are inside a noisy plane cabin.
Net: Refined sound for cheap ($40!) - recommended.

I have the anniversary edition Porta Pro. I agree with your assessment. They're an awesome little set of cans.
They probably won't be much to your (or anyone elses) liking in a confined space. Alexis used to yell at me for using them in the math lab at Cal. They vent a lot of noise externally.

Did not know there was an anniversary edition:

Very nice, love the cord - should become a collectors item in time.

I have an ancient pair of these. Very nice phones. A teeny bit bass heavy but that
what makes them so much fun. I love budget (bang for the buck) HPs. My all time favs and more often that not go-to pair are the Sony 7506. They always put a smile on my face. Another sleeper is the Sony CD780. I tweeked mine just a bit...I cut the tabs off that forced the earpads into the firmest
position each time you unfold them. Mine go right to the least pressure setting all the time.

I have had 4 of these. The first three several years back, got a new pair recently after SD praised them. They are really a great set of cans for almost no money. Very sensitive. And you cannot beat the lifetime warranty.

You know Auggie, I do like the 7506's (and MDR V6's as well). They are fun cans, as are the Porta Pros.
If you need any parts for the Porta Pros, contact Koss. They provide replacement ear pads for next to nothing!
