Title: Nakamichi score
Post by: vstarkwell on November 11, 2012, 03:53:24 PM
I don't post here often but this is too good to not share. About 10 minutes after this* was posted I replied back with my TN, he called back several minutes later. He lives about 10 minutes away so I go up there and he basically just wanted them out of his house.

Free vintage stereo components for pickup (Greenfield/Squirrel Hill)

I moved into a new house and am looking to get rid of the following stereo components that the previous owner left behind:

Nakamichi Stasis PA-7 power amplifier (inherently stable/uniform impedance amplifier, 200W+200W)
Nakamichi CA-7A control amplifier
Nakamichi ST7 AM/FM stereo tuner
Nakamichi OMS 7AII CD player
Niles SPS-4 speaker selection system
2 small Boston speakers

The power amplifier worked for a while, then it didn't. I don't know what happened - it just stopped working. A professional stereo systems guy looked at it and said that a part had probably worn out after years of use.

Everything else works, as far as I know.

I have no cables, cords, etc. for you.

All this is free to anyone who'd like to pick it up and take it away from my house. Thanks!

It's so clean inside the Power amp I'm hoping it's just a fuse. I can't wait to have Tom get his hands on this.

Thanks for all the kind words, what's gonna be nice is some of the money will be going to the shop in the form of repairs and a certain power amp that I hope is still available.

Hey sweet score! I'm super jealous.

Let me know if you don't plan on keeping the Boston speakers. I have all Boston fronts in my HT and I've been looking for a pair of matching surrounds. I'd be interested to find out more about them or at least hear your opinion on them. Boston doesn't seem to get much love around the shop but I really enjoy mine.

The speakers are Boston Acoustics Sub/Sat 6's, they're a little dusty but I assume they work. As for keeping them I could care less I have too many speakers to deal with right now. I'll drop them off at the shop at some point and you can have them.

Wow, that would really be awesome of you. Those look like they would work perfectly for my HT.

Very nice score.  I remember that gear from when it was new and it always sounded good, even if I struggled with the price, but you have eliminated the price issue.
