I tried to attach a picture but is not showing up
-
It appears to be showing now.
-
Those speaker connectors look very much like the wire connectors on my Lionel train transformers.
-
Initially my question was going to be what do you see in the attached pic other then the speaker connects?
-
The terminals look to be sweating oil. Is there a Paccom cap behind them? >:D
-
I don't know what a Paccom cap is or if there is one behind them. could it be a possibility that it might deoxit residue?
-
I was kidding about the Paccoms. It is probably deoxit from an attempt to clean them (I would not use deoxit that way personally).
-
Thanks Pepe that you think it could be possibly be deoxit which is what I surmised too.
The reason I was asking is some guy is adamant that he thinks it's black paint used to mask excessive wear. I asked him if he was serious, which he was, and when I asked him would speakers connects be subject to excessive wear to the point that one would apply black paint to hide supposed excessive wear he couldn't answer me. The guy is a nut.
