my headphone amp is a Schiit Valhalla that BJ and family got me. It is tube. They inconveniently installed power switch on the back. Is it ok to use a simple on/off extension type wire assembly to power it on and off. I have the amp sitting next to my recliner but reaching the on/off switch is a real pain. thx

Actually, I bought one of these at the thrift a couple years back thinking I would use it but never did. You are welcome to it, I can drop it off with the tape...

That item looks pretty cool! I've not seen one of those before. It would be perfect for PBJ. Another remote, why not. He'll have to tie it to something large to keep from losing it. Very nice gesture!

No issue using a normal remote switch like they sell in hardware stores. Or just leave it on.
-
I've always been afraid of getting the clap! That device STaL has looks perfect. Does the person with the most remotes win? I'll buy it off you STaL. I also wasn't sure if it was ok to turn tube equipment on/off in this manner. Thx
-
I think I paid like $.50 for it. I'd rather get the karma.
I'll try to get it by this week.
-
I'll give you $1 for it. That's a nice % profit
-
If it makes you happy.

Do you have a switched ac outlet on the pre-amp? If so, plug it in there, or into your current sensing power strip. Either way, it will power on/off with the pre. But, you won't have another remote:)
-
That's also a good option, but if I understand his set up correctly it would mean running an extension cord across the traffic area of his room. Plus his HP amp appears to have a grounded plug. Most convenience outlets are two prong.
-
Thanks for suggestion MacGeek but as STAL stated my headphone amp has a 3 prong grounded plug and it is on the opposite side of the room from my stereo.

I would agree in avoiding the clapper, they have a mind of their own at times. Wouldn't want the music to stop when you didn't want it to.

Those remote outlets are GREAT! Good relay in them as well. available at any True Value hardware store.
