Title: My New (to me) Polk SDA 2A's (I think)
Post by: GraphicFX on July 22, 2014, 01:20:58 AM
They seem to be 2A's but the pin/blade interconnect states that they are late 2a's

I would love to write volumes about these classics, but you all love your equipment, and for many, it is far superior to mine so I will humbly just say, the Polk SDA design sounds really fab. Other then interpreting Todd Rundgren, They do a great job at keeping my feet stomping, and my my guests oozing tears from their (it's way too late) drunken eyes.

Whenever asked to locate , lets just say, the lead singer's vocals, my guests always point toward the ceiling. These speakers define the term. "they disappear"

Noticeably, regarding "attack" and "decay" the decay is very shallow creating a very full, realistic listening experience. You've all heard them in one form or another. Even outside the SDA sphere, they sound pretty toot'n. The Cabs are near mint. I paid $140 for them, and once again, anyone near the Mckeesport area is welcome an unlimited beer infused audition.

I so appreciate this forum and everyone in it. Even F1's ballbusting, is always welcome

Goodnight

I'm glad you are enjoying them. They can't be 2A's as that model only came with the blade/blade cable and ceased production before Polk came out with the pin/blade stuff in 1987. You likely have the 2B Studio version.

There are a bunch of upgrades that will take the 2B's more than several rungs up the ladder.

Would love to listen to your 2Bs - really any SDA in a proper room and location within that room, very interested in the quality of the dimensional array effect that I have heard compares to holography.  And for my taste anyway,  those earlier Polks got the mid-bass just perfect.

Enjoy...
