For those of you want an instant upgrade in sound quality, and I don't mean by a little bit, would be wise to check out that Denon DCD 1610 that Tom(OCCD) has listed on his website.
Incredible build quality(built like a tank is an understatement) and the sound ???? Nothing short of remarkable.
To put it into perspective for you on what you would have to spend to match that Denons sound quality, you would have to spend, not kidding, $2,500.00-$3,000.00 in todays money. It's That Good.
Sorry if I sound like a "HypeBeast", but that Denon is truly that good. Somebody needs to jump on this thing ASAP.

That is an awesome looking cd player. Hard to find info on it. If I had the money I would jump on it.

Tom...how does it compare to the 490t?
-
Tuners as posted, a pair of 7 Kappas, I could let go, Marantz 2238 and 2385, Nakamichi 680, Polk LS70, Yamaha cr2020, Boston Acoustics T1000,Vandersteen 2ce, 3 sets of large advents (2 wood, 1 Vinyl), Dq 20i, Nakamichi sr2a, DBX 3BX, Pioneer sl1800 mk2 and PL512x, JBL l65 (jubals).
Some of this stuff, you would have to sweeten the pot to talk me out of it.
Sorry, no Carver, and I am still collecting PL.
Anything catch your eye?

Tom...how does it compare to the 490t?
For a non tube CD player, it is very warm. Plus it has variable outputs. ;D I like them very much.
-
That's an impressive list Dale :o
BTW how do you like the Kappas? I've always wondered how those sound.
-
I have never heard 7 Kappas. 8)

Tom-I have had 6,7,8,&9Kappas. I guess I have to admit I like them. Made in the mid 70's. The 7's are 12" acoustic suspension-3ways with a 3" soft dome midrange and the emit tweeters. Mid and tweet pots. Floor standing, oak veneer with difraction control front corners. Look like the 8's or 9's but shorter and deeper (37'x11.5'x17" hxdxw). I posted pics earlier of the 8 and 9. Woofers refoamed by Steve.
Paden501-Thanks. I sometimes wonder why I keep looking...

You have my attention.

If you want another more disinterested opinion of the 7 kappas, ask Falcon377.

And I'll Just Add That This Denon Is A Very-Very Dynamic Sounding CD Player That Will Bring Out The Very Subtle Nuances In Recordings Without Any Un-Wanted Harshness.
It's Just An Excellent CD Player Gents, I Hope That Someone Here Is Lucky Enough To Get It.
Sincerely, BILL(BB3)
