About a month ago I picked this up from Anders along with a few other tables. Spent a couple hours cleaning it up and fixing the speed selector. Everything (other than the strobe) works as it should and this table sounds great to me. When I put it in one of those Dual kitty litter pan bases, things went sideways. Those bases resonate horribly, not so much on belt drives but real bad on idlers. So I pulled some scrap out of the garage and made a quick base/plinth for it. Dead quiet now and currently my main table. Thanks again Anders!!!

Nice work on the plinth. My QL-A7 could use an upgraded plinth.

Thanks. I'm not so great with a miter saw or router, but I got them here and need to start using them more. Up close the corners are a bit rough. From a sitting distance it looks fine. I would have preferred the grain on the top to go left-right instead of front to back, but it's together, solid and heavy. I've got a 1249 that needs a new plinth as well. Hopefully the mistakes on this one will yield an improved version. I'm thinking rosewood since the 1229 took over for the 1249 which is pushing out my Hitachi HT500.

Very nice work! A little wood putty, stain or colored caulk works wonders on corners.
Great job!

Anders says: The fix for the strobe is to take 2 neon light bulbs, NE2's, and put them back to back in place of the original light bulb. He says that should work :)

I used some putty I found in the garage. It clearly said stainable on it, however the danish oil didn't stain it. Should tried the sawdust and glue trick instead. Live n learn.
I did research the strobe a bit and saw the neon info. Effort vs result…I'll eventually get around to it. The table sounds great so I'm just going to play the heck out of it and move on to the next project.

You are very welcome.
I'm glad to see you made something of those tables.
