Title: Sad day for my Velodyne
Post by: GraphicFX on October 29, 2014, 10:41:32 PM
Noticed voice coil rub on my 1989 Velodyne F1200B. The original 4 legged front firing beast. I am the original owner

Noticed audible voice coil rub, removed the grill, Surround giving out.
SimplySpeakers has supplied me with surrounds for my 901's and they have the part in stock.

I hate refoaming It's the toilet cleaning task of vintage audio. at least for me

If anyone local to the Pgh area, has any, Let me know, otherwise, SimplySpeakers for the surround, glue and instructions.
This is when a multi sub system (3 F1200's) comes in handy. There's always a backup.

Goodnight All,
and happy early Halloween,

Andrew

Sad...but not thge worst thing that could happen. I'd rather refoam a speaker than fix/replace the amp.

Good luck with the refoam.

It's on it's second amp, pulled from my 4th F1200 which is my parts bin for these things. Thanks for the encouraging words. Refoaming 901's (18 drivers in all), has given me some experience, to say the least

Sorry to hear about your sub.

Refoaming a driver is like waxing a car. When done right, it's a relaxing experience with a rewarding outcome.

I agree, 8W, but I can also see how doing a pair of 901s could change your perspective on the issue.  ;D

Yeah, 901's would definitely be a pain
