I am refinishing the baffles of the Carver Amazings, so borrowed a pair of JBL SVA 1600s from Tom to keep me going in the mean time. These speakers sound great! Surprised I had not read up on them before. I have them crossed over at 50Hz to the Rythmik sub. The imaging is excellent (Carver holography helps), very clear and detailed. Very efficient as well (well, almost anything feels efficient when you have lived with 5 foot ribbons for so long).
You can do a lot worse than these JBLs under $500. Recommended.

The process of getting the baffles ready for primer is painstakingly slow. Filler to get at scratches, then 500, 600, 1000, 1200 grit sandpaper. Slowwww... and messy.

Looks like you are trashing your garage floor. Any problems with domestic harmony?

That is just water mixed with sanded black paint (wet sanding rules). I am optimistic it will wash out fine. The real war will start when I lay down the first coat of paint using the compressor and everything in the garage takes on a metallic black patina.

Been there. Time to go outside (very early in the AM when there is no wind), or cover everything with old sheets.
