Title: Craigslist ad for refinishing speakers
Post by: Dicky on August 25, 2015, 11:26:56 AM
So I came across this ad a few months ago, https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/ele/5143791054.html  and thought about writing him about my old beat up Victrola.  For those of you who have been over to see it you know how bad it was.  I got it for $10 and just wanted to see if I could fix the motor, etc.  It wasn't too hard to get it running, and I have played it occasionally for the last year or so.

Well I finally decided to calling him last week, he said bring it out and he'll see what can be done.  After a few days, yes, days, he sent a few pics my way.  What a difference.  If anyone is thinking of having some work done that he advertises by all means do it.  He is quick and quite reasonable

Nice Dicky, what are his prices like? I have a pair of Polk Monitor 7C's that I would love to have reveneered

I was very happy with the price.  Shoot him an email, tell him I sent you.  If you want I will take your speakers out to him when I go pick that up next week.

Wow that looks gorgeous.  How much did he charge?  I might be interested in sending some work his way as well.  That Victorola looks absolutely gorgeous.

Very nice, seen his ads and wondered if he did good work.

There is a Victrola in my wife's genadmother's basement, in pieces at the moment. Someday I hope to restore it.

I think the OP wants to exercise discretion on the price he got as it may not be representative of pricing for others.  Just my theory,  Dicky can confirm or negate.

That's good news. I have a pair of KLH-363 3-ways which are vinyl covered and I wondered what it would take to get them walnut veneered. At a gajillion lbs each, they are quality built and have the old Kloss DNA worth restoring.

Well if that is the case I can totally understand.  Just wish you could get a confirmation, and maybe some prices of what he normally charges.

I necessarily do not need anything reveneered or the like.  I was though thinking of having something done in veneer though, instead of its glossy black finish.

I have lots of radios and speakers that could use some work.

I'm sure the guy could give you a quote.   Have the measurements of the speakers handy when you call.
