Post by: RuralTom on September 18, 2015, 05:47:35 PM
$300.  Great shape , zero issue; looking to have something less than four full sized sets of speakers in my living room, lol.....

Would love to hear a pair of these some day.  Have nearly pulled the trigger on them many times.

These are great sounding speakers depending on your music preference and listening levels.  Smooth, detailed and can have a lot of sparkle and great imaging but a narrow sweet spot.  Sound great with female voices.  These Maggies should do well in a smaller room.  No secret that they lack some bottom end.  Subwoofers are recommended.  If you are looking for speakers with chest pounding slam and a deep bottom end for sonic rock music at 100 dB listening level.  These are not for you!

Buy with confidence from Tom!!!

Thanks for the kind words gentlemen!

I'll agree with Carl's description of their attributes and I may pursue planars again in the future, but for now I need to clear some space....  I've got Cornwalls, A7s, Legacys and these in my living room, I starting to feel like an equipment hoarder and the fiance is beginning to be slightly less accepting.  Can't burn her out now, I've got decades of this hobby ahead of me!

I do have the all the original packing materials and boxes they shipped in, Scott.....  :)

Good luck with the sale.   I still have a pair in the main bedroom and they sound great to my ear  (though the narrow sweetspot is noticeable to the discerning listener).   Had some Alison Krauss cranking this morning around 5:30.  Lots of detail with acoustic music and small combo jazz

Magnepans are great but they are not as open sounding as electrostats and they tend to make everything sound bigger than life.

775 miles is a little to far to drive for an audition.

Would love to hear a pair of these some day.  Have nearly pulled the trigger on them many times.

A side note to any potential buyers: I find myself in need of a preamp/receiver for my second system these days and would happily look at any trades including such.
