Any of you running stereo subs in your 2 channel system? If yes and you had $2000 to spend on a new pair of subs, what would you buy? Have been looking at Hsu ULS-15 MK2 and SVS SB-2000 subs.

Scott,
Ron is running two of these with his Harbeths: https://www.amazon.com/S10EQ-Powered-Subwoofer-Andrew-AutoEQ/dp/B014GSEVFQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491879628&sr=8-1&keywords=elac+s10eq+debut+series+400+watt+powered+subwoofer (https://www.amazon.com/S10EQ-Powered-Subwoofer-Andrew-AutoEQ/dp/B014GSEVFQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491879628&sr=8-1&keywords=elac+s10eq+debut+series+400+watt+powered+subwoofer)
For your room, I would recommend two of the 12" S12EQ: https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B014GSEUJ8/ref=sr_1_21_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1481251951&sr=8-21&keywords=elac+speaker&condition=new (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B014GSEUJ8/ref=sr_1_21_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1481251951&sr=8-21&keywords=elac+speaker&condition=new)
I have one of those 12 subs and it sounds fantastic!

I'm very happy with my HSU vtf-15h.... but have heard both the JL Audio and REL subs and they sound at least as good.
-
Carl,
Any idea what led Ron to change to the Elac subs from the ones the built himself?

Hey Carl,
I'm not too keen on only have access to the sub controls via Bluetooth. That and the auto-eq is a neat feature.

I am sure Carl will weigh in soon enough, but in the meantime: Carl dropped by the cave this weekend and I asked him about this. According to Carl, the ELACs sound much better than Ron's original home-brew subs, I think that was what led Carl to buy two himself (and he has only installed one so far and is happy already with the results).
-
That is amazing because Ron's home built subs had the best bass I've ever heard in a 2 channel system.

Very true, however you should hear the Elacs. I think Ron has another speaker project in the works which led him to need two more subs.
I understand the Bluetooth concerns as with two they are a pain. With one, not too much trouble. I suspect when they have a new version of these they will have manual controls in addition to the Bluetooth controls.

I ended up ordering a pair of SVS SB-2000 subs. SVS's 45 day free in home trial makes it worth giving them a listen.

I have only heard good things about those SVS subs, and the customer service is legendary (like Emotiva's). Very populat in HT circles in particular. Report back!

I managed to get a pair of JL F112v2 subs for 3 grand at one point. If good at negotiating, you could probably find a pair of F110 or F112 V1 subs for 2 grand or just slightly over. I'd try to contact some dealers to see if they are trying to get rid of any earlier versions. A V1 can piggy back off of a V2 and get the same benefit as having 2 V2 subs. Good luck! I always found stereo subs much better than just 1.

A good friend of mine has a pair of SVS prime towers he uses in his 2 channel system. If the subs are anything like the towers, they're gonna be great. It's a smaller room and there's definitely no lack of lows.
