I was finally able to piece together a garage system. This is something that I've wanted to do for a while but I've had other priorities until this stuff came up on CL a few days ago.

The speakers are my Polk Monitor 5B's that have been taking up space in the basement until now. These are the speakers that really got me into vintage audio and they sound nearly as good in this system as they did in the main system upstairs!

The EQ came from Tom. I had it upstairs in the main system for a while but this Kenwood stuff came with an EQ that I liked a lot better, so the BSR went to the garage.
All of the Kenwood stuff came from a Craigslist ad. It's all in really nice shape except that the Tuner is having some trouble w/ tripping the breaker in the amp when it starts up. I'll look into that later.

That is a SWEET looking system!!! Congrats!!! ;D ;D ;D

Are any of those bobbleheads Joey Mullen by any chance?
-
Sorry no dice on the Joe Mullen. It's a Crosby, Malkin and Fleury set. They were hand-outs from hockey games a few seasons ago.
Thanks for the comments.

Oh well.
Great score on the Kenworth setup. That wooden F1 is rad too.
-
Gotta love the kenworth gear!!
-
Sadly, my garage is not large enough for a Kenworth setup. But the Kenwood setup does do well for the space available.
;-)

Kenworth is an ongoing joke about a craigslist ad for kenworth equipment and boas speakers

Nice setup! I like the black rack, I need one like that in my garage.
-
Great set up. Kenwood gear was top shelf years back and sounds just as good today.
I don't have a garage, but have a similar set up in my RedNeck basement bar.

Thanks Rev and OO.
The Kenwood amp has picked up a 'hiccup'. It throws a ton of distortion to the right channel for a few seconds every now and then. I'm taking out of service until I can get it fixed up.
The black rack is a beast. I picked it up on sale at Home Depot. It is advertized to hold over a ton of weight!!! I haven't tested its limits yet though.

I've had 0 trouble with any Kenwood gear I bought in the 70's. Very well built and reliable! 8) 8) 8)

I still have one set up in my screen room. It is very bright, and I like that sound. The thing is a million years old.
Right now I have my turntable set up to a Carver 505 and a Carver CT6, but not sure that it did not sound better with the Kenwood.
The Carver stuff can drive the hell out of my Polk LSi speakers though with bi-amp and the Kenwood can't. I guess as long as we plug good stuff up where it can shine - it will.
My Kenwood is NOT for sale.

Great system Matt.

Nice garage system! A good garage system goes a long way!
