It actually sounds better than I thought it would. All of the functions operate smoothly. It's got an MPX filter, manual bias adjustment, and HK advertised it as 20-20.
I need to degauss the play/record head on it. They've probably got one heck of a magnetic build up after all this time.
It's not a Tascam, but for $5, it works!

I had a TD291 a few years back... I thought it was a good deck for the price... Liked the HXpro...
$5 was a MUCH better price then I paid! ;)

Honestly, this thing is REALLY surprising me. I wasn't expecting cassettes to sound remotely as good as they do.
I'm accepting cassette donations, if anyone's interested! :)

Just wondering... Where did you get such a good deal?

I have a box of tapes received as part of a stereo deal. The were recorded using a Nak DR-1 from a denon TT. Should be decent sounding. They are yours if you want them.

It was on CL along with a Dual CS 630Q for $5. I haven't tested the TT yet.

Thank you, thank you. Now I just need TAPES. If anyone wants to donate some to the cause, I'd appreciate it.
