Title: can someone help me I.D???
Post by: greyboy on March 27, 2011, 11:38:56 AM
im new to the hifi scence, but i have a set of tube amps that i love and want to get new tubes for but i cant figure out what kind of amps they are...can anyone help me?
they are extremely high quality and weight about 65 lbs each.  the chrome and finishing overall is extraordinary, and they have these really long rubber feet, like 3 inch long cone shaped.  also has a pre amp module that is unlike anything i have ever seen, the knobs at each end control output...thanks in advance for any help  :)

thats the problem im afraid... there are absolutely NO markings anywhere, and the bottoms of the amps are completely covered.  the bottom of the preamp module has no cover, but the exposed circuits dont give any clue either.  thats the only pic i have at the moment as they are in storage, i took that when i pulled them out the other day.  i know for sure that they are over 25 years old but the look and style of the power cables.

i got them from a guy who is the person who 'scored' them. i got a good deal, but not as good as he did :)   they came out of the original estate in the l.a. area....thats about all i know...
im an audio guy, but i was really drawn to these more because of aesthetic reasons

hey guys!  i finally got tubes for them and they sound great!!  the whole set up is so far out, the design of the preamp is one of the coolest things ive ever seen.  i tried to contact mike maloney, the designer, but havent had any luck.  his company, scientific fidelity has been out of business since 2005 i guess....any help would be appreciated, i know he is fairly well known in the hi fi scene.
found this link too, very interesting:  http://amp8.com/vv-amp/foreign/trillium.htm (http://amp8.com/vv-amp/foreign/trillium.htm)
