Title: Listening room, Flexi-Racks and Record shelf all DIY
Post by: fly4x4 on February 03, 2013, 03:23:55 PM
 Hello,
Here is my nearly finished listening room I built in my what was a 2 car garage. I built the shelving for record storage and all the Flex-rack style furniture for the room. I am making a few acoustic panels to finish out what the Auralex foam misses. All that is missing is my MAC 2105 ( still in the shop) and a MAC Pre that I am getting from Carl and then it will be perfect.

Greetings Jeff!

The room and the equipment rack looks wonderful!  Beautiful DIY work!!!  It looks like a confortable place to sit and spin some vinyl.  I'd say that you have a terrific vinyl collection.

Nice looking family!  Is that a moose your daughter is holding?

I hope to see you soon!

Regards,

Carl

That's probably one of the best looking listening spaces I have ever seen. Well done!

Thank you all for the nice comments. It has been my obsession for several months and it is just about perfect for me and then I can start on the theater room.
Carl, Yes that is a Moose Beenie Baby that Sarah is holding and it is one of her many animals that she absolutly loves. As you may have guessed due to the weather I postponed my trip up and will be trying to reschedule again in a couple weeks or so. I cant wait to update the pics with the McIntosh gear and of course hear them in this room.
I set up everything per the Cardas formulas and I think it is nearly perfect, the only flaw that is causing some issues is the big bulk head that the HVAC vent runs through. I am hoping I can correct it with some large sheets of acoustic foam and diffusion.

That looks pretty darn good!

How do you like the Studio 40's?

In this space I love them. I have Studio 60's as well and before I finished the room the 60's were all I used as mains. Now in this room I like the 40's better paired with the my 15" sub. So I moved the 60's to the upstairs formal living room where they are doing a much better job since it is a open space with cathedral ceilings.
Now that the room is done and once I have the McIntosh amp and Pre in place I will upgrade my turntable and then my speakers. Then hopefully I will be able to start all over again and keep upgrading without the Wife kicking me out, LOL
