And in all honestly I would really like a set of SR2i's but those are kinda crazy money.

Hi Tom. How difficult is it to change the stylus on the Grado Gold1 I bought from you?  I did keep the special tool that came with the cartridge. I always used a spare stylus in the past for records of questionable quality...ie Goodwill etc.  How much would this replacement stylus cost?  You can just let Bearjew know.
Thanks,
Brad

The SR-60's really do sound great. Thrifty left me borrow his for a test drive and I was quite impressed. He had replaced the ear cushions with foam I'm not a real headphone guy so I haven't ordered any yet. Right now I'm borrowing bj's Sennheiser HD-280 pro headphones.  They also sound great and really tune out the outside world

Thrifty - what foam pads did you use on the 60s? (would like to start ordering those on the odd chance THAT TOM MAY ORDER MY SR60s <slap slap>.

The Sennheiser HD-280s are great cans too.  I have a pair I gave to my son,  who now does not let me use them  (the selfish little bastard).   SunnyD,  who fashions himself a can expert, does not like Sennheisers.  He loves the SR60s though.  The 60s have bad ass midrange clarity,  but get uncomfortable after an hour (unless you use different pads,  I hear).

When I first got my Grados 20 something years ago they had donut pads that I loved and could use all day without even noticing them.   Then they went to their current pads and I didn't like them as much.   I didn't hate them, I just preferred the others.   When they wore out I tried the Sennheisers linked above because they were recommended by someone on AK (and they were cheaper than the Grado replacements, I am Sir Thrift-a-Lot, after all).

The Sennheisers have a cut out which is slightly too small for the Grados.   That surprisingly turns out to be a good thing because instead of sitting flat on the driver they dish a little bit and the pressure cups just a bit at the outer edges instead of being the same over the whole ear.   I find this to be preferable, others don't.   The only way you can tell is to try it for yourself.   I hope that helps.

Plus, the black headphone with the yellow pad is definitely a 'Burgh thing!  :-*

Following up on my order for a pair of SR-60s,  placed a while back.  I understand these are manufactured to order by hand and delivered to Babcock blvd via horse buggy straight from Brooklyn by Joseph himself,  and that takes time. No rush, just checking.
