Here are the inner workings of the console I acquired last week. Any opinions on whether to restore or part out?
-
...continued. Maybe later I will be able to resize better but this will do for now...
-
Nice. What's the cabinet condition?
-
The innards sure do look clean
-
I tried to get that.
I guess you guys are fast.
-
Anders, usually I write to get something only to have 8WOF call me to help carry the item I wanted. What were your plans for it?
-
probly restore it and sell it.
-
@Rest lame brats: the cabinet at first looked very bad, but after some resto work on the easy parts I am feeling better.
-
...and a some of the after
-
Looks good! What did you use - Restor-a-finish?
-
Just some Old English. Brought it out nicer than even the pictures show. The top will need stripped though.
-
...and it is up and running!
-
Looks great! Nice work.

Thanks! A little upgrade I did and will share. I like the Airplay feature of my Denon receiver on my main setup, and wondered how to incorporate something like that on a 55 year old console. Well if you have an old android smartphone and a wireless network in your house it is easy. Download AndroidHiFi trial on that phone, pay the $2.99 if it does what you want it to, and hook that phone up with an adapter that turns the headphone jack into 2 RCA outputs. I just put it under the turntable hooked up to an old charger. If you have a mono unit like this you will have to make an adapter to go from stereo to mono too; about $10 worth of material from the Shack. Once hooked up use iTunes Airplay from whatever you use, and stream to your old console. As a bonus you can control the volume too! Enjoy!

I put an 1/8" stereo jack to the aux inputs of all my consoles. A very minor, very useful mod.
