Title: 3 different horn systems for sale
Post by: tinpan on March 25, 2015, 04:12:12 PM
Probably not much interest here but you never know. If you are in the Washington DC area you might be interested in one of the horn systems I have for sale. Need to thin the herd so to speak.

First up is a Jabo horn system that features an Altec 288 horn driver and Emminence 15 inch woofers. This system crossover is at 500 Hz asking $2,195

Second up is a Lowther horn system that features a Lowther PM4a driver, Azura horns ( 160Hz) EV Sentry IV bass bins and a Digital Pete crossover ( crosses at 250Hz) Looking for $3,495

Third up is a pair of Khorns, I believe they are 1954 vintage based on conversations with some buddies. They are in pristine condition the grills are perfect. I am asking $2,495 publicly...would offer a fellow forum member a very attractive price.

I have more photos but won't post them unless someone really wants to see them

Might be open to a trade if it's something I'm interested in.

Thanks

They are beautiful.  I'd need a truck to get them home and probably don't have the space they need.  Good luck, they should sell fast.

Very nice looking and I'm sure the sound is equally as nice.  Good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the kind words. I keep looking at the pile of gear I have and break out into cold sweats worrying about having too much.

Those Khorns are very special since they are consecutive serial numbers 1720 and 1721. I believe they date to 1954 which makes it curious as to why the OO popped for a pair then. These were parked in the living room of the OO since the day his dad bought them when I acquired them. That's why Id like to see them go to someone that wold appreciate the heritage and the pristine cane grills.

I had a gentleman contact me last night, he was in town from Maine and sent me a message to hear them. I called him and an hour later he made the trek from DC to my house. I really liked the Lowthers..thought they were the most realistic sounding but he only has room for the Jabo horns. We'll have to see what he decides. It was a bit much to listen to three systems in 2 hours. You could tell he was struggling to take it all in. lol

Hello ,

Please excuse for making my first forum post in a fs thread, but I couldnt resist myself after seeing the pictures :)
(I hope you guys understand)

I will make a proper post shortly to introduce myself to all forum members. (My apologies).

Tinpan: I am interested in system number 2 (azzura horns+digital pete xover+bass bins).
Is it still available or have you already sold it to a lucky forum member ?

Many thanks and best regards,

Hi Borja!  welcome to the forum.  Replying to a for sale post with interest as your first post is ok,  what we do not like is when members join only to post something for sale,  and that is not what you are doing.  Thank you excusing yourself nonetheless  ;D.

Good luck finding the right horn-based speaker for you...
