Title: Hello from Northern Illinois
Post by: Stugpanzer on January 07, 2016, 11:11:50 AM
Way back when I got married in 1983 I had a Kenwood KR-9050 Receiver along with some EV speakers, Sansui Turntable and Teac Tape Deck.  After getting married I let my wife talk me into getting rid of all that fine stuff because, you know 'What do you 'need' that stuff for'?  When I sold the Kenwood to a friend, about a month later he told me he trashed it because he left it next to a window and there was a downpour.  I was heartbroken!

Over the years I have had various receivers, amps, surround systems, etc but I missed the old days of having a nice stereo system.  This week changes all that!  I am now the proud owner of a Kenwood KR-9050 that I picked up on Ebay which was partially refurbished as follows:

From the Ebay Auction:

Along with the receiver I bought some V-MODO Crossfade M100 cans.  My old AKG K340 cans had been through the ringer and since I don't have speakers (yet) for this receiver, I wanted some nice headphones to crank some tunes for now.

Hello Stug,  welcome to the group!

The actual part number of the muting switch is S42-5013-05,  but I suspect any of the S42-XXXX series will probably work if you ignore the additional pins (and I am basing that on looking at pictures of them,  so caveat emptor!).  As is often the case these are being sold at high prices on ebay (I should not be criticizing,  I do it to a degree as well when I give up on a vintage receiver - part it out and sell the parts retail ):

Nice monster receiver!

Here's a pic of my new (to me) baby with the V-MODO Crossover M100 cans:

I work from home so the Kenwood, is right where I want it, on my desk right next to where I work, with a Panasonic DVD/CD player (yes I have a 40" tv in my office which is out of view in this photo) along with my laptop, my work laptop and its monitor, a new 1080p camcorder on the right, some McDonald's Sweet Tea....jerks!  They should never serve that stuff because resistance is futile for me!!!!!!

Thanks Jazzman!  I read a bunch of your site about your speakers.  That is bookmarked for a 'far' future project!  Well done sir!
