Title: Beats teardown - BOM $16.89
Post by: MasterBlaster on June 28, 2016, 10:01:52 PM: An interesting read on the build quality of the headphones. Can't say I'm terribly shocked to see the bill of materials was only $16.89.

Disappointing that people gladly hand over their hard earned cash for fools gold.

Post by: MasterBlaster on June 28, 2016, 10:39:25 PM: Found a follow up article that revealed the unit they tore down was counterfeit. They got legit versions and compared them to the counterfeit. find to be very similar - actual BOM is $20.19

Informed buyers, who look past the ads, usually don't make illogical decisions. I'm sure we've all fell for it at one time or another, when in doubt do a little research.

Post by: bmwr75 on June 29, 2016, 09:44:53 AM: My guess is BEATS is not the only headphone manufacturer that would have a low BOM value. We'd all probably be surprised and alarmed how little parts cost to build a number of expensive cans.

I didn't read the whole thread; I thought he was talking about beats. I thought maybe he lost his mind. Good to see you're still sane, Klaus.

Also... the SR60's are really nice. If they were closed, I'd probably own them.
