Title: Realistic MC1000
Post by: non-prophet on August 25, 2016, 12:12:32 AM
I know some of you guys get nostalgic for the old Rat Shack speakers, I got these from an older lady who was the original owner.  As nice as you are going to find.  Forum price $20

Optimus 7 and Mach Ones are the ones I want to find cheap.   I have a pair of Nova 7s that are surprisingly decent.

Mach 1's will be a big disappointment. When new they sounded like they had a mattress  in front of them.

There are a bunch of mods for the Mach Ones to make them better than original and address weaknesses (google audiokarma mach one tier 1 upgrades).  I liked the bass they produced back in the day and would not mind getting a pair if I found one on the cheap to mod/play with.   They came from the factory with a 12 db hole at 1Khz that made trumpets sound like crap,  which probably explains PBJs disdain for what he heard when he auditioned them.

I would like take a moment to thank everyone who contributed to this post.  I am glad to know, along with any potential buyers, these are not the pair of realistics you want and there are mods to improve those other speakers.  outstanding

Sure your speakers are fine...

Sorry Nick.   I've never heard the ones you are selling, making it difficult to comment.

I am not worried about a $20 bill, I just posted them just in case someone was interested before they turn into target practice for my Saiga 12, it will be a good day at the range:

b&o beomaster 2400 and beocord 3300
Realistic  MC1000
Cerwin Vega AT-12 (probably the most satisfying to destroy)
I was hoping for a pair of 901s, maybe next time.

Sorry Nick. I guess I lost track of what this post was about. If anyone is interested in my comparison of new Mach Ones to my JBL-L100s, a friend's AR3a, and another friends KLH 5's let me know. This all happened in the 70's.

Sorry again Nick!

Nick,
If nobody else claims them I'll take the speakers. I can use them inn or spare room for when my granddaughter sleeps over. I need to start assembling a stereo for her. She's only 5 but likes to go to bed listening to music. I just have a little mini JVC set up in there for her now.
Thx
