Title: Don Polito
Post by: Spenser on March 18, 2019, 08:16:04 PM
Hey how's it going. My first time here. Was introduced to the site by vpgh. I'm a North Hills guy. Late '50s aged late bloomer in audio electronics and amateur radio. Thought I would pass on for those of you who know Don Polito -- seeing as he and his late father dovetial with the hi fi audio community from their many years or repair work and influence -- information from a North Hills Amateur Radio Club blast originating from Don Merz, who is a member, and also president of another club, know as Pittsburgh Antique Radio Society. "...FYI, well known local tube supplier and owner of Phil's radio and TV in Bellevue Don Polito is in the hospital apparently for a long stay. If anyone wants to give him a cheery call, he is at (West Penn Hospital)..."  Thought some of you might like to know. Thanks.  -Matt McConnell aka Spenser

A close friend of mine RAVES about Don.  I've never met him but apparently he's a really cool, knowledgeable guy.

I've met Don a few times.   It's always an enjoyable time.   He rebuilt a Heathkit I bought at an estate sale.   If I lived closer, I'd be up there taking lessons.   He really knows his stuff.   Hoping he's on the road to recovery.
