Hi all my name is Dan Reardon as my username states, not very imaginative but it works. Live in North Hills of Pgh. Glenshaw to be exact. Love audio mostly speakers but I dabble in electronics as well. Started with a Heathkit at 8 or 9 and now retired and finally have time to tinker.

Hey Dan

Welcome aboard.   Good to see you here.  Lots of good folks on this forum.  Your knowledge will be useful.

Guys, Dan is being extremely modest, unless your idea of 'tinkering' is entirely recapping a piece just for fun!

See you this week after those fuses come in.

Mike

I listen to a wide variety of music: Classic Rock (emphasis on Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, Dylan etal), I also really like female vocalists (Jasmine Thompson, Paula Cole Eva Cassidy and others). I listen to many other genres as well Classical and Opera are perhaps least listened to. My music enjoyment is best summarized as this similar to wine, I can not always tell you what I like but if I hear it I know very quickly if I like it.

Welcome Dan. Did you happen to mean Tektons? If so, which model? I've got a pair of Lores which I can't see ever giving up.

New on 7/3/19  Rik Seaman in Minden, NV (N. Nevada near Carson City)Have been audiophile for over 50 years---Was ET in USN. Like sounds of good Trumpets, Trombones, Saxes, flutes etc. Big Bands, Jazz Bands & Pop---Xlnt recordings vs "poor" studio recordings with wrong mics & mixing. .--Was trombonist in band, so I know what this is spoze 2 sound like. Judge the sound of speakers by comparison to Sennheiser 6xx, & old 650's. ILike "natural sound (Infinity Quantum 3's, Sansui SP-2500's, Kenwood JL-1090AV & Kenwood JL-777. Always buying speakers at garage sales---Have a lot of "Rock& Roll" speakers (like Cerwin Vega DX5) that are soooo unnateral sounding with "NUCLEAR" bass that i would trade for Klipsch's, and a host of other"naturals". I "stack" these 4 on each side---12 feet apart & focal point is 8 feet back in middle---Sounds better than the $5000 Klipsch's at Best Buy. I have Sony, Marantz, Optimus Amps all close to 100 watts/ch. I joined today & CANNOT post on "help/repair" thread. Nowhere can I find the icon to start a post----Puleez help me !!!!---My problem---Just acquired a Marantz 1180DC for FREE---Yes---FREE---Lady said "this is really old & heavy & doesn't have a tuner--just take it with the speakers you just bought." All functions & inputs work (Had to get 4 replacement knobs from Ebay)---but---Output to speakers 1 & 2 is intermittant above approx 1/3 volume, and sometimes it takes a few minutes before speakers activate.   Help !!!!---if anyone knows of repair near N Nevada---or elsewhere.----rikshot

I too played trombone and like all horns.  Sounds like you have better garage sales than we do here in Pittsburgh

Welcome to the Forum Rik!  I can't help you with starting a thread in the repair area or with someone located near you in Nevada.  I liked your introduction as we know something about your equipment and taste in music.  This forum doesn't have a lot of active members but many who are here are very helpful if they can.  Thanks for joining!

Welcome, Riki.

There should be a New Topic button at the top of the frame where the messages appear.

Good luck.
