Title: Technics SL1510 help
Post by: Zuma on December 24, 2022, 03:48:19 PM
Hello! I have two questions. Absolute beginners level...

I have been given av SL1510 that lights up and rotates, plays the record, but I dont get any sound through my amp, and changing to another record player does, so it is the SL1510 that is the problem. I understand this can be due to a lot of different reasons, but i would like to know where to begin looking..

I am a complete newbie on HIFI, but I have done some soldering and building guitar effects etc so have som basic soldering skills.

What is the other player?   Might it have a built in phono pre where the Technics doesn't?   What amp and input are you using?

Thanks! Might have been that. Connected to my NAD 3020 the worked. The speed was way off but I cleaned the pots and now its running smooth! Although i dont understand how the pitch control works. There is no "click" in the middle and I saw someone on Youtube where the light is suppose to make it easier to know where its "right" but my light lights up but the reflections dont change when I turn the pitch control.   What could be wrong?

The only thing I can think is perhaps after you cleaned the pots the decorative knobs are just spinning on the pots rather than gripping and adjusting them?
