Home Theater Audio / Re: Amazon Fire Stick and Plex for audio streaming
« on: January 02, 2018, 10:40:15 AM »
you should have no problem streaming anything PCM.  Obviously, DSD is probably a no-go.  Not sure about .ts files, but I feel like that's something that should work.

Nothing should have to convert in theory.  Assuming you're using the optical out on the TV to go into your stereo, it should move quad and 5.1 right through to the surround receiver.  This is all in theory though; I didn't spend a lot of time with any of the Fire TV equipment.

I know a guy trying to sell a pair.  I don't have a lot of information on them at the moment, but I can get some pictures and details if someone is interested.  Just thought I'd throw this post in here so you guys could get a crack at them if anyone is interested.

happy new year

I like your parents very much.   Your kid though...

(It's a joke.   I kid because I love.    )

Don't worry, I think my brother's a douche too :P

I have literally never touched those speakers before.  So whoever is telling you I chipped them is full of shit.  I have seen them, but have never touched them.  You'll be hearing from my attorney.

Amazon has soundbars really cheap; that might be his best bet.  When I say cheap, I mean $40 and up.

My son BJ (BearJew) has his undergrad degree in audio engineering and his Master's degree in Classical Guitar Performance. All from Duquesne University. His awesome wife Xinlei has her undergrad and master's degree in music composition.

Hey hey!

Welcome to the forum! (not sure if I said it already; too lazy to scroll).  As thrifty said, what instrument do you play?

25 bucks.  It's in good physical shape, but one channel keeps cutting out.  It has been mostly re-capped in an attempt to repair that issue, but I did not replace the caps that have that stupid glue keeping them mounted to the board.  I'm sure one of you guys has the patience to do it, but I am not one of them, and my wife said I can buy a new DAC if I unload some of the stuff I'm not using.

I think he's saying that he wishes he knew what you knew about recordings, not what you do about them.

Also, MG, I'd choke a dolphin to hear those Xtremes!

Which Radialstrahlers did you get to hear?  The regular 101's, or the X-tremes?  I'm told that the X-tremes are the end game speaker.  They're supposed to be as good as it gets.  Which they sure as shit should be since they're 200k.  I consider PBJ and I to be quite lucky to have the Carver ALS's, but those things are just... well... if there is a God, he made those speakers just to piss off us peasants.
