Good luck, my friend. That's my fav-o-rite Floyd album. I wouldn't hate hearing it on your setup.

I got a copy the other day that was pretty sheevy..  I cleaned as good as I could, still sounds like crap!!  Nothing but pops and crackle.   I am in the mood to hear echoes on vinyl!!   :o :o

The best I can do for you is throw it on a hi-bias chrome cassette from my DX-708 via my TD4600 using Dolby S for you. It records 20/20 flat. I've got the printout to prove it.

It's like when I quit smoking cigarettes. Sometimes the gum worked. Sometimes it didn't. Sometimes that analog bug can be squashed with a run through the cassette deck. Other times, I suffer through pops and crackles. No snaps.

What is your record cleaning method?

I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

Mike,

I'm going to a CD & Record Fair that passes through Syracuse twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.  I'll see what I can find.  I've got to replace my copy as well - Echoes has a pinhole in one section that my needle just hates.  The rest of the disc is fantastic.  It had to be in the best song.  Go figure.   If I can find one I am picking it up.  Will see if I can find two of them!!

Believe it or not, Half Price Books and Records usually has some Pink Floyd on hand.  At least, the one in Monroeville does.  I got a great copy of "The Wall" over there a while back, and they almost always have at least one or two Floyd records in the bin.  Can't vouch for the other locations, only the one in M'ville.  Next time I'm there, I'll keep my eyes open for ya.

Remember to ask to see what they have behind the counter. That's where they keep their more collectible records.

I haven’t been in a while but 1/2-P in at the Point(less) in Robinson has given up a few pearls for me in past.

Regardless, I will keep an eye out for you in future dumpster-dives.
