Mid Atlantic Air Museum WW II weekend
« on: June 01, 2011, 07:56:18 PM »
Anyone going to this this weekend?  http://www.maam.org/wwii/ww2_guests.htm

I'll be running dad up there for the weekend. If you live anywhere close to it you may be able to see P47's,P51's B17's B24's, B35's and a whole bunch of other stuff fly in.

Got back last night and all I can say is what a blast. This was the largest collection of WWII warbirds I have ever seen in one place, and they all flew...except for the P-47

David Ails hosted 5 pilots whom he did art work for, dad being one of them. People could buy the prints he made and have the pilots sign them. It was an amazing opportunity to meet these other pilots. My son Luke was a little blown away when he figured out he, as he puts it,he,  "Lives with a celebrity" .

Here is dad signing an autograph book for another youngster and talking with him about his experiences.

Here is one of 2 prints David made commemorating the events of December 13 1943 when my dad was awarded the Silver Star. He went up against 63 enemy airplanes by himself in his P-40 Lulu Belle

Here was the last remaining B29 passing over the run way

Here is another shot of it

Here is one of the B-25's

Another one

B17

Spitfire doing a 400 mph fly over

I could go one and one, but I won't. There are some more here, if you guys like these things

I gotta say I love my new lense

Wow, nice pics!!  Thanks for sharing.   I would love to see that B-29 on the ground close up.
Were any F 4 U Corsairs on display?  One of my favorite Warbirds.

Glad you had a great time.

The B-29 was hard to get close to, the best I have is of it preparing for take off

The F4U put on quite a show

Here he is coming out of a loop
