setting up a tech bench in the ol shop
« on: April 22, 2013, 05:57:11 PM »
a $5 desk from goodwill and some rearranging of the tools around, and voila, a repair bench!  using the kenwood kr-77 as the test receiver.  troubleshooting a nak 480 with recording issues - I can walk away from it for a while when I lose patience tracing voltages.  all I need now is an electronic engineering technology degree and more patience and I can approximate Anders. Also in the market for a cheap chair or stool if you have one.   O0

Yea yea I get that feeling too,  do I know what I am doing or do I think I know what I am doing?  Or is it a mixture of the two?  The end result is the judge. If you see the Epay post as "Parts Unit" you know what happened.

One of the decks sold today, it is going to New South Wales, Australia,  a Pioneer CT-950.  Shipping was more expensive than the price the man paid for the deck,   but he is cool with it.  Made a 120% profit   >:D.

That's what's cool about cheap vintage gear.  Pick up a unit for $10 at a garage sale and take a shot.  Even for parts it's a deal, plus the "entertainment" value trying to fix it.  All profits, real or imagined, go into more gear (and new houses).

And, what about the other toys....bikes, guns, boats, etc.
Mac stuff, Sony HDR-F1HD AM/FM/HD tuner, Denon DRS 810 cassette, Denon CDR-W1500 CD recorder, Music Hall MMF-9 w/B&O MMC2, B & O 4002 w/B & O 20 CL, Revox A-77

Nice desk Pepe!! Something I'd like to have, and fully deserve, is a decent place to work on gear! Congrats!!
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

OBG you also need about 35-40 years of experience to approximate Anders.  Good luck with that :)
