Replacement stylus for Shure V15 RS
« on: April 28, 2013, 04:55:04 PM »
I am looking for an original replacement stylus for a Shure V15 RS cartridge. This is just a shot in the dark in the hopes one of the members has one they are looking to get rid of. If I get no luck here I'll end up buying the Ed Hoffman stylus.
This is the info from the Shure site about which styli work with this cart:
The V15-RS replacement stylus was model  VNSE3-HE.  Please see the following link for many sources where you can purchase discontinued Shure styli, like this model. http://shure.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/shure.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2300

The N111-HE stylus will also fit, as will the VN5MR.   Neither are available from Shure, but the above dealers might have these styli.

The V15-RS was equivalent to the Shure M111.

The N97xE stylus does NOT fit the V15-RS body.    No current Shure stylus fits the V15-RS body.

The current M97xE is the closest available cartridge to the V15-RS.

Thanks,
Ed
I am confident that an SL-1200 is capable of outperforming turntables of much higher expense with minor modification.

Did you mean "Ed Saunders" when you said "Ed Hoffman"?   If not...

I would check out the Jico stylus's as well Ed if you're not able to find one thru the forum.

that's right... thanks for the correction. I've read the price difference between the saunders and jico doesn't match the sound difference.

It wasn't intended as a correction so much as hopefully useful info if you didn't already know about it, but you do so I guess it wasn't really all that useful anyway.

I'm here to help. :-[

Markshan, Don't sweat it. Your clarification was probably useful for others.

Not really sweating it, just trying to be funny.   The written word is so vague sometimes.
