I ended up getting a different bike last year; 1998 Honda VFR 800 Interceptor:








Been busy tearing the red rocket apart in preparation for riding this year:



So far-
New lockset (tank lid, helmet lock, ignition switch) as I lost the old key, new instrument bulbs (LED), changed oil/coolant, new Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires, & adjusted fork geometry for more positive turn-in.  Next up is replace the voltage regulator/rectifier, add an electrical outlet, replace a broken brake handle, & hit the road!
