DSD Convert
« on: January 26, 2015, 09:59:22 AM »
So I got my hands on a Lumin T1 with Lumin L1 hard drive for a steal. Long story short, DSD files with proper recording are astounding! I would say it bests my analog rig with the Grado Reference and is close to with the Van den Hul. I would probably give up vinyl completely except a lot of the records I enjoy are not done DSD and the DSD files are not cheap. That and I like actually having a hard copy of my music.

Does anyone have a recommendation as to how to get my records into DSD format for archiving and listening purposes?

Thanks,
Stephen

Do it like the pros do it.  Convert the vinyl rip into PCM then convert to DSD.

All DSD recordings are recorded, converted to PCMs so they can be mixed and mastered, then converted back to DSD.  As of today there is no "direct to DSD" recordings.  This will change as mastering equipment becomes available.  Do your research online, the DSD is really PCM.  Sort of like making vinyl recordings from CDs.
