Dual 721 lever
« on: June 24, 2016, 12:22:08 PM »
Awhile back I came across a site that had bought a warehouse of NOS Dual parts. Investigating them further, it turns out they may be located here in Pittsburgh. I picked a 721 last week and cleaned it up and got it running nice and smooth. Only two issues, popping on start up and the Start/Stop lever was broken. I cleaned the switch and got the pop to lessen a bit. As for the lever, I considered trying to epoxy it together somehow, as finding the part is tough. Turns out Dual-parts has ONE in stock, $12. They want TWELVE dollars to ship it! Aye caramba.

Here's a pic of the part:

Mine is broken on the hole end. About 1/3 of the end is gone. Wasn't in the plinth. Anyone have an idea? It's got to be semi strong as that hole bears the brunt of the force used during operating it.

I'm likely going to buy it, just the principal of paying $12 to ship something 14 miles. Especially when they claim $6 shipping on most parts. The part is plastic and a little over an inch long.

You'll regret not buying it.....years of experience has taught me that about myself.

I haven't been able to verify anything...it appears the site is run by TD Enterprises which is located on S Craig St. That may be the operational address and the warehouse could be anywhere. They haven't replied to an email I sent asking about picking up.

After listening to the table for a few hours last night I'm going to order the part. Even with the crazy shipping cost, I'm still way under what I'd expect to pay for one of these tables in good working condition.

Since you have most of it in tact, couldn't BJ whip you one up with his 3D printer?

Dualparts got back to me, they had a bug in the calculator. Shipping is $6 so I just ordered it. In the meantime I might try and whip up a better looking plinth for it to live in. Since it's a direct drive, mass won't matter much so I'm just goi g to make a drop in shell for the whole thing to live in.

Ordered the lever Monday, arrived yesterday. Sent from a PO box in Pittsburgh, so they are located here in the Burgh. Nice to know there's a quick parts stash close by. That's the good. The not so good was the packaging. It was sent in a small USPS box and wasn't even sealed. Inside were three green Post Gazette bags for filler. The part was in a baggie inside one of the rolled up PG bags. It arrived intact, but not how I would of packed it. Now that lever is in, it's on to fixing that damn steuerpimpel that plagues all these old automatic Duals.
