I love the look of those Yamahas, but both of the ones I have were sold as working but came home dead.

Yes, George.  Enjoying retirement as much as possible.  Currently listening to 'Newks Time' on vinyl to hear the phono stage of the Yamaha.   It sounds good in mono!!

Here is re-arranged, as of yesterday, system now.  Replaced my Rotel with the Yamaha because I want to enjoy the lightshow.   Had to move out the Vandersteen 2Cs (with the banana plugs) and put in a pair of Canton 800s.   Picture below....

Thanks, OBG.  I have to admit that is the neatest side of an extremely cluttered area.  But on the bright side,  I worked out a deal with my wife to paint two of our unpainted rooms and move the listening room to the larger or the two rooms.  The current (unpainted) listening room is about 10 x 11 and I will be moving to a 11 x 13' 6" room (with solid walls behind the speakers as opposed to the current windows I am stuck with in the smaller room)  So I will be busy....

That is great.   I have the enormous basement and it has some advantages (huge benefit for home theater,  no way I could fit a big screen in a small room) but also disadvantages - the room modes (bass nulls) are crazy and despite a bunch of treatments and bass traps  their effect is still there to some degree.  After I bought the B&Ws, I obtained permission from my wife to set up a second system and move the Triton 1s to the home office upstairs.  The sound is pretty good (you could say it is a "near field" set up)!  The big monsters look weird in a small room but I have no bass nulls to deal with.  I can crank them up (using an Onkyo receiver at the moment) and get an enjoyable soundstage.
